This should have been posted January 7, 2012 Well for anyone who doesn't know, Asher left this week for BYU-Idaho.
and as proud as we are that she is now a college student, it makes me a whole lot sad to see her go.
She decided to go to BYU-I, so that she could spend some time with Alexis and Emma.
Well the Emma part came true, they are sharing an apartment together, but unforetunately, Alexis is having some health problems and will not be able to attend this semester. So.........Asher Gone, Alexis still home.
We loaded up the whole family, LITERALLY, EVERYONE went on our Idaho Trip, Me and X, Alexis, Emma, Asher and Deyasia (who we dropped off in Provo at BYU), and Adam and Aaron. Car full to capacity, off we went.
We traveled most of Sunday January 1st, and first official drop off spot was to leave Deyasia in Provo.
We are always sad to see her go, but this being the 2nd half of her sophomore year, she loves it, her apt is cute and we had a chance to meet her roommate. It was sad to leave her... But Idaho was the end stop...
So off we went.
IDAHO....
COLD....
Slippery....
Wet......
COLD....
Let me tell you X, Aaron and Adam can have fun anywhere......
As you can tell, there was never a dull moment.
We were so lucky Emma's Aunt lives in Idaho Falls and we were soooooo blessed to stay with her for a few nights. Her family was great!!!
Well.. The Girls have come and gone. I guess for journal purposes, I guess I should say that Alexis never left in January. She has had so many problems with her stomach, she stayed and had surgery to repair everything. VERY SUCCESSFUL. She doesn't look green anymore. She has great color no more vomiting and to be honest, it was super nice to have her around for the extra few months. For the most part she has been gone for the last couple years. To say that having your adult child living with you doesn't make for some interesting and frustrating times, is an understatement. But.. I also enjoyed the adult that she is, and enjoyed our girl time.
So spring break brought home Asher and Emma. Really fun. We had a great Easter .. and a wonderful visit.
If Adam has anything to do with planning for the visit it will be musical. So at 10:30pm one night, poor Asher and Alexis had been incorporated into the family band. Poor Aaron was asleep or almost asleep, and he didnt get to escape. Don't mind X's feet in the video. I think I love this so much, not because they sound fabuloues, or they look great. (Remeber 10:30 and Adam has had chronic Laryngitis. But I love that the girls sang, (I really have not heard Alexis sing since....... She was 11). I loved it!!!
PS They robbed me of MANY sacrament mtg presentations!!!
Well when I receive a phone call from my sisters regarding schoolwork, I know immediately I will be required to be creative. So when Rhonda called and told me Jacob needs a simple little project for 2nd grade. Easy right?? Then she brought me the list. It was like, make a Diagram, Chart or poster, 3-D model, short report, Journal, Painting, poem, song, board game, computer project, skit, creative dance, habitat diorama.....
REALLY??
Does she realize we are in the 2nd!!!!!! grade.
This was accompanied with a list of vocabulary words, that had to be used or drawn....
BLAH BLAH BLAH..
Well Jacob literaly told me the whole life cycle of a painted lady butterfly, defined all the stages, and his version of events.
Well this is what we came up with. Not too bad if you ask me..
Thanks to Bradon and Adam for all the Technical skill. It was amazing!!
I think you will all be excited to know. "We" got an A!!!
So Adam wanted to ask a girl to Formal, from school, and he and Alexis were debating how and when and what they could do that would be cute and fun. Here are some of the ideas.....
Jumping out of a box with balloons and cupcakes that spelled out FORMAL..... NO
Having a scavenger hunt with the last location Adam holding Cupcakes that spelled FORMAL.... NO
Apparently in the planning phase Alexis Very Hungry....
Well they decided to rewrite Taylor Swift Song and have Adam sing on her front door......
Emma and I hid in the Car while Alexis and Aaron took the video. Actually Aaron was the only one who took a video Alexis just got one GREAT picture. MORON.
ENJOY!
As you can see she said YES.
The family all came to the front door and took pictures and recorded some of it. This was Aarons version of the recording,
AHHHHHH Very Cute.
LYRICS:
Hey Tiff'ney I think ASB's been fun this year
And now I'll say a thing or two.
Cause I've got here some passports to Paris
And I'd like to take a flight with you.
Of all the Boys who might ask you to Formal,
I am the one singing now even when it's cold.
Hey Tiff'ney I hope that you'll say yes to me
Cause I'm hoping not to go alone.
I can't help it if I dance like an angel,
And tell your dad that I won't kiss you in the rain so,
Let's get all dressed up and we'll dance all night in Paris,
Just you and I and all our friends,
Hmm, Let's let the fun begin.
They'll be dimming the street lights,
At eight o'clock that night,
And maybe we'll arrive.
And baby we'll breakout,
And we'll have a pow-wow,
And have a freakin awesome time, time, time!
Hey Tiff'ney I could give you fifty reasons
Why I should be the one you choose,
Yeah those other boys, well they might be cool,
But I rewrote a song for you.
HAHA
I can't help it if I dance like an angel,
And tell your dad that I won't kiss you in the rain so,
Let's get all dressed up and we'll dance all night in Paris,
Just you and I and all our friends,
Hmm, Let's let the fun begin.
I can't help it if I dance like an angel,
And tell your dad that I won't kiss you in the rain so,
Let's get all dressed up and we'll dance all night in Paris,
Just you and I and all our friends,
Hmm, Would you Please say yes?
Well today was regional playoffs for Aarons AYSO Soccer Team. I have to admit they have had a great season, the only games they lost all season was a game that both Aaron and Ahmed were gone (they were on a paintballing campout with the scouts). But the boys...the whole team play really well together and today was their day.
Game #1......
4 to 3 (Aarons team Wins) Oh sweet Victory!!!
Game #2..
If you know anything about our region let me set the stage they were playing the DOG POUND..
No seriously.
Self Proclaimed . Straight Up. The Dog Pound.
Really good coaches, super big fan base, guys that have been coaching together forever!!!
Three years ago, when Alexis and Bobby and Emma coached Aarons team, they went to playoffs.
We Got Crushed by the Dog Pound in OT, Kickoffs!!!!

Last night I was at home minding my own business when Gerri Woessner called and told me that the KC museum had someone back out for today's event and she wanted to know if I thought anyone would sing the Star Spangled banner. Well, I said is it a big deal, she didn't think it was so I asked Adam do you know anyone who could sing? He He. poor Adam he is so good, I said its really no big deal, you just have to sing the SSB and then you can leave, like 5 minutes. So we go in and play it on the piano, he sings it, knows the words and he says, OK I'll do it, it's no Big DEAL right?
Well I thought NO BIG DEAL.
WELL.. What do I know.
Alexis is home and she talks him into Dressing Nice. THANKS ALEXIS!!!!!
She also tells him, you know it might be a big deal, you know Veterans Day, KC Museum. May be BIG.
SHUT UP ALEXIS!!!!
So he gets there,
BIG DEAL!!!
Kevin McCarthy the our State Congressman and Karen Goh, our 5th District Supervisor are there. There are all kinds of Veterans, and people around, they have the news there. He He.
POOR ADAM.
So he is just a trooper, he gets up and just lets loose...
He started and the mike was not on or not working but then you hear him.. Little nervous at first, I think the (No Big Deal) crowd and military people may have has something to do with it.
Needless to say, I think he did well, and I was proud of him. So way to be a team player Adam we Love you.
Then as if that was not enough excitement, then he took pictures with Kevin McCarthy and Karen Goh.
Then not to be outdone and actually enjoying himself , Aaron took a little tour of the KC museum, Enjoyed the tanks that were there for Veteran's Day.
Took some pictures.
It was a nice day finished by a family dinner at CPK.
We were all home, by 6:00pm and we (X and I) were tucked into sleepy night night.
(Except I have been trying to download this video FOREVER!!!)
When I was Little, Veteran's day was A BIG DEAL.
We would get up and one of us kids, or Danny and Dennis, would be in the Parade, we would eat a big breakfast take Pre-Parade Photos then hit the streets of Bakersfield to strut our stuff. It was always one of our funnest days, and best parades, and I always loved to those guys in uniform.
As I was standing there tonight listening to the Star Spangled Banner, shaking with nervousness for Adam. I was all of a sudden a little kid caught up in the occasion. I still love to see a man in uniform, but as I am older now, and have both a Father and Father-in-law, who are "Veterans" I had an overwhelming sense of pride in that uniform.
In like 4th grade we read the story of Frances Scott Key, and how he was held captive all night long in a ship in the Chesapeake Bay, he listened to the English soldiers all night so confident that the Americans would surrender the fort, the last thing he could see that night was the Flag still waving above the fort, as he sat listening to the "bombs bursting in air" and gun fire all he could do was hope we were left standing. At dawn the next morning, when he looked through a hole in the ship (not sure if it was a porthole or a hole), he could still see the flag waving over the fort. A little tattered from the battle, but still waving proclaiming the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
I have always LOVED this story, and always get emotional.
It was kind of a fun experience to bring all my Veterans day Memories into one good day. I thought it was just me, but as I looked at X he had some eye mist, that's all I's saying. I know when he see's the posting of the colors, or a group of veterans showing their appreciation for America, he see's his Dad in the crowd.
I love Veteran's day, and even if it is not the holiday we all have off from work,
I love the spirit of the occasion.
